Shepherds Pie

English Hillsides in Yorkshire

They were cold upon that hillside, weary and forlorn. Not a warm morsel had touched their lips, blown dry by the badgering wind upon the hillside for they had not a pence and even if they did, what good would it do out there.

So in their time of need they created a most delicious thing, what once had been a good batch of "bubble and squeak" was left over the wee fire a tad too long. "Blimey" the shepherds exclaimed as they saw what arose from the cast iron pot. It was compact as a pie, without it's biscuit crust. And so shepherds pie came about, a classic if you might, a classic that sat upon my table only last night.

Here is a photograph of the shepherds pie that graced my little wooden table last night.
