Green Eyed

In the past, when people inquired about the colour of my eyes, I used to say green or hazel (you get the point). But I recently discovered that the term green-eyed was invented by Shakespeare in one of his writings. He used the term to indicate "jealousy". I am mildly ruffled by this, especially when I contemplate how I've grown up pouring over dust-ridden Shakespeare books by electronic lantern-light. There's also the fact that when it comes to jealousy, I've always been neutral and never tempted to adopt the disposition. A girl with an etherial enough imagination, could never, ever be jealous (even if she wanted to be).

Could it be that Shakespeare himself was jealous of the jewel-like eye colour? It is one of the worlds rarest and therefore most one of the most precious. Was he betrayed by some emerald-eyed siren? Who am I to know. What I do know, is that lately I found myself saying that my eyes are "forrest toned" and it seems to suit me just fine. Don't worry dear reader, I shall soon grow out of this too, it's just another phase...I think. I won't ever loose faith in my too-big, dark, stormy green eyes. Plus, I have many green-eyed heroines on my side: Anne Of Green Gables, Sara (The Little Princess), old film actress such as Gene Tierney and Hedy Lamarr and the lost princess Anastasia, just to name a few.

My forrest-hued eyes.
